From the Lariane bridge, we first cross a larch forest where it’s easy to make your own tracks. We then emerge onto snow-covered meadows, beneath the imposing face of Pic de Château Renard. The steady but pleasant slopes of the pass lead us to a magnificent panorama between two major Queyras valleys: the Aigue Blanche and the Aigue Agnel. We return down the same path.

20 minutes drive – D+ : 700m / D- : 700m – 7h – Overnight at hotel
Arvieux, a pretty little Queyrassin village, will be our starting point. The first slopes are a little steep, so we warm up quickly! We then climb up a wild valley to the Cabane de Fontouse. A few more efforts and we’re at the Col de Fontouse, surrounded by the majestic Dent du Ratier and Barre Noire and facing a superb panorama. The descent is either by the same route, or a loop via the Queyron, conditions permitting.
